From May 2020 the course is primarily delivered ONLINE with a supplementary field day to practice and assess skills.
This course is conducted ONLINE with field days held at Fireworks Australia’s premise in Bellmount Forest near Gunning in NSW. There will also be field days in QLD and other states in the future.
Essentially this course combines online theory training in the essential skills sets and also a range of hands on training to develop skills, knowledge and experience. All participants will have ample opportunity to apply all learning. Participants will be issued with a project assignment. In their own time and working from their own home, participants will be required to develop their own operations manual for a fireworks display. This is a major skills requirement of a Pyrotechnician’s licence. This manual will serve as the foundation document for the participants future Pyrotechnics work. The field day has a broad range of practical training to compliment the theory training and some assessment tasks. The take home exercise is not only a good assessment tool but a good opportunity for students to reflect on their learning and experiences. During the training staff will be available for additional instruction, assistance and support.
Participants are expected to satisfactorily complete all assessments.
Before attending the practical field program students will need to have obtained a fireworks related security check – speak to us directly and we can advise the one relevant to your location.
The RTO has a detailed complaints and appeals policy that is publicly available on request and is part of the Student Handbook given to all participants.
At the completion of the course the students will meet the requirements of a Pyrotechnics licence in all States.
The course is designed to give students general pyrotechnicians skills and the knowledge to plan and conduct a show using a Safety Management System and compliant with local regulations.
